Abstract:Introducing surface texturing to improve the tribological properties of the ring-liner conjunction is one of the most effective means to improve its working reliability.Based on the mass conservation lubrication model and the asperity contact model,a mixed lubrication model for the textured system was developed.By the mixed lubrication model,after selecting appropriate performance evaluation indexes of the ring-liner conjunction,the objective function for optimizing the performance of the ring-liner conjunction was determined.Combined with particle swarm optimization algorithm,a new method for optimizing the dimensions of textures with different depths on the surface of piston ring was studied.Based on a large number of numerical simulation tests,it is found that surface texturing with the optimized depth can improve the tribological performances of the ring-liner conjunction,improves the bearing capacity and reduces the friction,which verfies the proposed texture optimization design method is feasible.
