Abstract:Based on the fluorescence measurement system of film thickness for a sliderondisc contact, the relationship between the intensity of the fluorescent dye in the oil and the shear rate was studied. The combination of lubricant and fluorescent dye suitable for film thickness measurement was screened, and the relationship between fluorescence intensity and oil film thickness were studied. The results show that the fluorescence intensity of the combination of R6G and PEG400 and the combination of Coumarin6 and PAO8 is not affected by shear rate. These two combinations can be used for film thickness measurement by fluorescence method. There is a linear relationship between fluorescence intensity and film thickness,so the film thickness can be calculated by measured fluorescence intensity. The measurement method of film thickness and oil pool distribution around contact area was established. The effects of load and velocity on film thickness and lubricant migration around the contact area were studied. It is shown that the film thickness is increased with the increasing of speed and the decreasing of load.As the speed increases, there is more lubricant accumulating at the inlet of the slider, and a tworidge film profile appears at the outlet. While there is no significant change in the oil pool on both sides of the slider. The change of the oil pool is caused by the combined action of surface force, mechanical separation force and centrifugal force.
