Abstract:Nitrilebutadiene rubber (NBR) materials filled by Tetraneedle like ZnO whiskers (T-ZnOw) and nanoZnO (n-ZnO) were prepared by comixing and heat molding, and the material properties of Nitrilebutadiene rubber (NBR) containing different kinds of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) were analyzed. The friction and wear properties of the NBR compound under different dry friction conditions were studied by CFT-I multifunction surface comprehensive tester. The surface of the NBR compound after wear was analyzed by using the threedimensional shape analyzer and SEM/EDS,and the friction and wear mechanism of n-ZnO in NBR was discussed. The results indicate that, compared with the addition of T-ZnOw,the addition of n-ZnO can shorten the scorch time and the positive vulcanization time of the rubber compound, and increase the density and hardness of the rubber compound. The NBR filled with n-ZnO exhibits excellent properties of friction reducing and antiwear, and the wear amount is reduced by 458% and the average friction coefficient is reduced by 24% compared with the NBR filled with T-ZnOw.During the friction process, the n-ZnO debris accumulation can resist the external load into the rubber surface, resulting in a sudden decrease in the friction coefficient. The wear mechanism of the NBR filled with n-ZnO is abrasive wear and slight adhesive wear, while the wear mechanism of the NBR filled with T-ZnOw is severe abrasive wear and adhesive wear.Elemental analysis of wear surface shows that the n-ZnO distributes more uniformly in the NBR compound, which forms a compact friction film during the friction process.
