Abstract:In order to improve the wear resistance and friction reduction performances of the bump foil bearings, the MoS2 solid lubricating coating was prepared on top foil and disc specimen by spraying. The bonding strength of the disc specimen coating was analyzed. The friction and wear properties of the disc specimen with coating were studied by the selfmade balldisc friction and wear tester. The surface and cross section morphology of the disc specimen with coating before and after the friction and wear was measured by the scanning electron microscope (SEM).By the bump foil bearing performance experiment platform, the wear resistance and friction reduction performances of the coating in actual work were explored. The results show that the roughness of the substrate surface affects the bonding strength of the MoS2 coating, and the binding force of MoS2 with the sandblasting surface is the highest. The components in the MoS2 coating are evenly distributed, and the bonding mode of the coating is mainly mechanical binding. It is found by the friction and wear test that the MoS2 coating has better antiwear and friction reduction performance. Its average friction coefficient is about 545% lower than that of the stainless steel matrix, and the wear amount is reduced by 407%.It is found by the bump foil bearing performance experiment that the friction reduction of MoS2 coating prepared is close to that of commercial PTFE coating, but its wear resistance is poor.
