Abstract:Spring energized seal ring is applied in many fields,since it can maintain the sealing performance when microwear happens in its coat.However,its related research is scarce for the 2D model cannot be used to study the seal ring directly because of its spiral structure.The finite element model for spring energized seal ring was accomplished by three steps: first,the mechanical property of the initial 3D bended coilspring was attained by utilizing the numerical experiment;then,a 2D equivalent spring was designed which has the similar mechanical property with the initial one;and the last,the axial symmetry model of the whole sealing system was set up.This model can be used in analysis of ring’s assembly,and its validity is evidenced by the existing data.Consequently,this effective and timesaving model provides a new method for spring energized seal ring.
